The 5th National Congress of the Italian Association for Re-Prosthetization (A.I.R.) will take place at Palazzo dei Congressi from the 22nd to the 24th September 2011. Over 400 participants are expected to attend the event, whose title is “The stabilization of revision implants. Materials, biological factors, treatments”.

“Taking for granted the need for a correct diagnosis concerning possible failures and the correct surgical technique – explains Professor Massimo Innocenti, Chairman of the Congress – I thought it would be useful to examine what modern technology can offer to surgeons having to deal with a re-implant, in terms of biotechnology materials and contributive treatments”. Various characteristics of porous metals, increasingly available, will be examined, while others debates will concern the techniques of tissue engineering, that is to say the possibility to employ cells, biomolecules and supporting structures. And last but not least, participants will discuss the efficiency of antireabsorptive and osteoinductive treatments.
