Firenze Fiera and PCOs Together to Relaunch the Florence Congress Center

A meeting between the Firenze Fiera managers and PCOs took place at the Fortezza da Basso on Monday, 11th December 2011. Various topics concerning the development of the Florence Congress & Exhibition Citadel were discussed and all the congress organizers of the city attended this event. Leonardo Sorelli, Managing Director of Firenze Fiera and spokesman of all the future projects, presented the current situation of the three venues, as well as the various steps of renovation and the synergies activated on a national and international scale to win back a leadership position in the Italian congress world.

“While waiting for an answer from the local authorities (Region of Tuscany, Province of Florence and the Florence Municipality) to launch the renovation works at Palazzo dei Congressi – explained Sorelli – we are now carrying out new initiatives, first of all the roofing of the Auditorium. Furthermore, we are waiting for the approval of the VAS (Variante Ambientale Strategica – Strategic Environmental Assessment) to start the preliminary renovation works of the Fortezza da Basso by March 2012. From January 2012 on, we will be able to offer a free Wi-Fi connection inside all the exhibiting venues. We are also working to optimize our relationships with suppliers, in order to offer our clients more competitive and advanced services”. 

 “And last but not least, talking about promotion – concluded the Managing Director – our purpose is to operate in partnership with the Florence Convention Bureau in order to invest on relationships already started with the Florence University, along with other institutions and economical bodies, to relaunch Florence as a destination and the Florence Congress Citadel on international markets”.
